The greatest junk science "study" in the history of the world!

SLIPERRY SLOPE? What slippery slope? So said all the rabid smoker-haters. Reed and weep. I think this is great, personally, everything that goes around comes around-I remember when I was in Frisch's on Heatherdowns and Byrne relaxing with a smoke after my meal...on the last day smoking was allowed. The morons who run the place began to tear the doors to the smoking room down BEFORE midnight, and BEFORE they closed. Some fatassed bastard on the other side of the restaurant started pretending he was choking, and yelled out, "I can smell smoke! Better enjoy it, you won't be able to do it any more!" THIS IS FOR YOU, YOU FAT BASTARD!!!! Enjoy!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Obesity worse for cancer than smoking, says landmark study (and alcohol and red meat are a danger too) Last updated at 15:24pm on 31st October 2007 Being overweight increases the risk of getting cancer more than smoking does, it was revealed today. A landmark study found that being overweight, drinking alcohol and eating red meat can all increase the risk of the deadly disease. And Professor Sir Michael Marmot, who chaired the study and is professor of epidemiology and public health at University College london, suggested the direct link between increased weight and increased cancer risk was even stronger than that linking cigarettes and cancer. He said: "With obesity and overweight, it is very clear and it is a graded phenomenon. The more overweight you are, the more obese you are, the higher the risk of cancer. "With smoking, we know that if you smoke you increase your risk,****but most smokers in the end don't get cancer, so it's not a one-to-one relation.**** "We have known about obesity and overweight in relation to cardio-vascular disease and diabetes. "The idea that it is strongly linked to cancer, I think, is relatively new. The analysis of 7,000 cancer studies from around the world said there is "convincing" evidence that excess body fat can cause six different types of common cancers, including those affecting the breast, bowel and pancreas. To guard against cancer, everyone should be at the lower end of the healthy weight range, the scientists warn. The study found that processed meat, including ham and bacon, was such a risk factor for bowel cancer that people should avoid it completely. And alcoholic drinks were strongly linked to mouth, oesophagus and breast cancers. Children and pregnant women were urged not to consume alcoholic drinks of any kind. But the panel said although there were no "safe" alcohol limits for cancer, this had to be balanced against the protective effect modest alcohol consumption was said to have against heart disease. The panel recommended that people consume less than 500 grams, or 18 ounces, of cooked red meat per week, and avoid processed meat altogether if possible. Processed meat was defined as meat preserved by smoking, curing, salting or the addition of preservatives. Examples included ham, bacon, pastrami, salami, and frankfurters. Not all minced meats and hamburgers were considered "processed". The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) report is based on studies dating back to the 1960s. It includes recommendations from a panel of 21 world-renowned scientists. The study is the second major investigation of the causes of cancer to be conducted by the WCRF. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article_id=490845&in_page_id=1774&ICO=HEALTH&ICL=TOPART

All Conservatives Must Die?

While the left bitches about the latest comment from Ann Coulter......

Media Matters Commenter: 'End the Life of Every Conservative'
Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 1:37:13 pm PST
The hit squad at Think Progress took one nasty comment from a reader at RedState, and stated outright that it represented the entire blog: White House Embraces Right-Wing Blog That Called For ‘Destroying’ Graeme Frost.
So I guess it’s OK to point out that Media Matters has let a comment stand on their site for more than 24 hours, calling for the death of every single person on the “right.” This wouldn’t have lasted ten minutes at LGF.
Although I know it to be something many would condemn, I have to say that I believe this nation, this world, and everything in it would be far better off if there was a button I could push that would END the life of every avowed “CONSERVATIVE”, “REPUBLICAN”, or “RIGHT-WINGER”. Of course, I would likely break my finger clean off my hand from pushing it so hard...lol

The Not-so "poor" kid the Dems paraded before you

Took this from another blog-great read.

The "Not So Poor" 12 Year Old Who Rebutted Bush on SCHIP VetoMultiple, Baltimore Sun ^ 10-07-07 self

Graeme Frost, who gave the democrat rebuttal to George Bush’s reasons for vetoing the SCHIP Bill, is a middle school student at the exclusive$20,000 per year Park School in Baltimore, MD.
Graeme was in a severe car accident three years ago, and received care paid for by the government program known as SCHIP-(State Children's Health Insurance Program)
"I was in a coma for a week and couldn't eat or stand up or even talk. My sister was even worse," Graeme wrote. "My parents work really hard and always make sure my sister and I have everything we need, but we can't afford private health insurance."
His sister Gemma, also severely injured in the accident, attended the same school prior to the accident meaning the family was able to come up with nearly $40,000 per year for tuition for these 2 grade schoolers. Confirmation both attended Park found here using edit-"find on this page"-Gemma. It will take you to an article in the schools newspaper about a fundraiser for Gemma class of 16, and Graeme class of 13.
Here are photos of the school's 44,000 square foot Wyman Arts Center: two galleries, an outdoor ampitheater, Meyerhoff Theater, Macks-Fidler Black Box Theater, practice rooms, rehearsal space, and ceramics, 3-D sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, painting, photography, digital graphics studios, recording studio, and keyboard lab.
In a Baltimore Sun article the family claims to be raising their four children on combined income of about $45,000 a year. "Bonnie Frost works for a medical publishing firm; her husband, Halsey, is a woodworker. They are raising their four children on combined income of about $45,000 a year. Neither gets health insurance through work."
What the article does not mention is that Halsey Frost has owned his own company "Frostworks",since this marriage announcement in the NY Times in 1992 so he chooses to not give himself insurance. He also employed his wife as "bookkeeper and operations management" prior to her recent 2007 hire at the "medical publishing firm". As her employer, he apparently denied her health insurance as well.
His company, Frostworks, is located at 3701 E BALTIMORE ST. A building that was purchased for $160,000 in 1999. The buildings owner is listed as DIVERSIFIED INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CENTER, LLC whose mailing address is listed as 104 S Collington Ave which is the Frost's home. The commercial property he owns is also listed as the business address for another company called Reillys Designs which leads to the question of whether rental income is included in the above mentioned salary total
The current market value of their improved 3,040 SF home at 104 S Collington Ave is unknown but 113 S COLLINGTON AVE, also an end unit, sold for $485,000 this past March and it was only 2,060 SF. A photo taken in the family's kitchen shows what appears to be a recent remodeling job with granite counter tops and glass front cabinets
One has to wonder that if time and money can be found to remodel a home, send kids to exclusive private schools, purchase commercial property and run your own business... maybe money can be found for other things...maybe Dad should drop his woodworking hobby and get a real job that offers health insurance rather than making people like me (also with 4 kids in a 600sf smaller house and tuition $16,000 less per kid and no commercial property ownership) pay for it in my taxes.

SCHIP Wreck

Everyone, please send thanks to President Bush ASAP, so that he knows he has our support! We are quick to criticize, so we should also send praise and support when it is deserved. You may e-mail him at comments@whitehouse.govA simple one paragraph letter is plenty. Just tell him that you appreciate his refusal to promote national healthcare, socialized medicine and hypocritical taxation of smokers to support middle class America. Smokers are Americans too. We smoke and we vote! You can also phone the White House at 202-465-1111 (comment line). Your comments are kept on file....they do make a difference.

Whoopi loves Bela Pelosi?

Wow, I thought this was a joke when I first heard about it, but I guess it isn't. I find it hilarious that it's a bunch of socialis...er, libs embarassing each other.
